**Job Title**: Lead Hand Gardener

**Reports To**: Head Landscape Gardener

**Job Summary**:
Under the direction of the Head Landscape Gardener, maintains the Park grounds according to standards of historical authenticity in order to enhance visitor enjoyment.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Tends all the gardens throughout the Park that includes planting, weeding, watering, fertilising, trimming and other tasks as required.
- Learns basic knowledge of pruning, growing techniques and common plant names
- Harvests the vegetable gardens and tends to grass areas as required.
- Provides information and services to visitors in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Help with harvest and fall clean-up
- Other duties as assigned.

**Education**:
Completion of High School.

**Experience**:
Some job related experience and/or basic horticultural knowledge is preferred.

**Skills**:
Must demonstrate a willingness to learn. Good verbal communication skills and tact in dealing with the public, as well as in following directions, are both necessary.

**Special Clothing and Equipment**:
Costumes will be supplied by Heritage Park as required. Washing and maintaining Costumes in a presentable fashion will be the employee's responsibility. Individuals will be required to supply their own appropriate footwear, to be approved by the Costume Department Supervisor during Park open season periods. Safety equipment as required will be supplied by Heritage Park and maintained by the employee.

**Special Working Conditions**:
The employee must be prepared to work in a variety of weather conditions. A considerable amount of walking, lifting and other strenuous duties are required in order to complete work assigned. This position requires a person in good physical condition.

**Hours of Work**:
Various scheduled hours of work including possible weekends, statutory holidays, fluctuating hours and overtime as required.

- Monday to Friday
