**Position Purpose**

Assists with leading a team of staff to identify assets and programs that will assist with the attraction and retention of new economic development interests. To promote and encourage private investment and partnerships that will have a direct impact on the local economy. This position will lead the research and development of programs and marketing initiatives necessary to promote Georgina to global markets and play a key role in the development and implementation of the Economic Development and Tourism Action Plan.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Supervisor of Economic Development and Tourism**

**Reports to: Manager of Economic Development and Tourism**

**Direct Reports**:Economic Development Coordinators, Summer Staff, Entrepreneurship Coordinator**

**Group: Management**

**Position Summary**

Assists with leading a team of staff to identify assets and programs that will assist with the attraction and retention of new economic development interests. To promote and encourage private investment and partnerships that will have a direct impact on the local economy. This position will lead the research and development of programs and marketing initiatives necessary to promote Georgina to global markets and play a key role in the development and implementation of the Economic Development and Tourism Action Plan.

**Responsibilities**
- Assists with leading and motivating a team that is able to adapt existing, and create new programs that meet the needs of the business community and changing economic landscape
- Provide mentorship to the team with respect to the development of programs that assist local organizations, businesses, entrepreneurs and that leverage local economic, cultural, heritage and environmental assets
- Provide supervision to staff, including assisting with performance review and planning, training and development, conflict resolution, recruitment, termination, etc.
- Represent the Town of Georgina at events beyond municipal boundaries and to Regional and Provincial organizations
- Provide regular updates to the Manager on issues within the business community
- Lead the development of an entrepreneurship hub with a focus on leveraging partnerships that will assist in the financial sustainability of future programming
- Compile and analyze business, economic and research data to support strategies and economic development initiatives focused on innovation
- Prepare reports and presentations for Council and external agencies and organizations
- Research resources available to potential investors including incentives, financing and grants
- Research and compile demographic and economic data in response to prospective client inquiries
- Assists the Manager in the development of the Town’s investment readiness and prepare tools and programs to support Georgina’s participation in Global investment attraction efforts
- Assist in the annual budget process, monitor expenditures, control and analyse costs by ensuring expenditures are within authorized limits
- Maintain and foster relationships with the local business community
- Act as a liaison between local organizations, individuals and representatives of government, Town Committees, consultants, businesses and industries concerning community economic development
- Take a lead role in the submission of grants to benefit Georgina’s economic development and tourism initiatives
- Liaise with other levels of government and local agencies to access programs and funding which may be of benefit to the business community and Georgina as a whole
- Attend and help organize various trade fair/conference events and other functions that help to promote the area
