**Position Purpose**

The Supervisor, Library Branches is an integral member of the Georgina Public Library team and is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of library branches, including public service, staff training, scheduling, safety and security, and maintenance of facilities and equipment, with the goal of cultivating an environment that strives for customer service excellence in a rapidly changing environment. As a regular presence in each branch, the Supervisor, Library Branches will offer service continuity for the community and support for library staff in a way that meets the strategic direction set forth by the GPL Board. **_For full details, please see attached job description_**

**Minimum Qualifications**

Library Technician’s Diploma, Business Administration diploma, or diploma in another relevant discipline. 2 years previous library experience, including 6 months in a Library Assistant position or equivalent. 6 months supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment. Thorough knowledge of library policies, procedures, practices, and relevant legislation. Ability to act as customer service champion. Excellent public relations, problem solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to deal effectively with staff through coaching and training. Skill and efficiency in the use of computers and related technologies, including basic proficiency in Excel. Ability to teach others in a patient manner. High ethics and values. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends. Requirement to travel to various locations. Valid Class 'G' Driver's license and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business. Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening.

**JOB DESCRIPTION: Supervisor, Library Branches**

Reports to: Manager, Library Customer Experience

Direct Reports: Library Students

Indirect Reports: May provide occasional guidance, training/assistance to Library Clerks, Library Assistants, Circulation Coordinators, and volunteers

**Position Purpose**

**_ Responsibilities_**
- Supervises library activities by scheduling, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating staffing to ensure consistent levels of service across the library system.
- Oversees training, supervision, and evaluation of student employees.
- Provides team leadership: leads, empowers, coaches, fosters collaborative work environment; models enthusiasm and commitment; promotes teamwork; provides clear direction and effective communication; mediates conflict.
- Performs personnel monitoring: recognizes accomplishments; oversees and tracks staff training and orientation; establishes performance expectations; ensures appropriate tools are available and communicates needs to manager.
- Ensures efficient library operations and compliance with established policies and procedures, and that employees are well informed and trained in/on policies, services, operations, programs, and events.
- Collaborates with library leadership to develop and implement goals, policies, and procedures. Coordinates activities and programs with staff.
