Team Lead of Home Base

Home Base Drop-in Centre, located in the Richmond Hill Community Hub, supports youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, by providing them with food, clothing, counselling, recreation, employment support, education, life skills and connecting them with services to meet their needs.
Reporting to the Manager of Youth Hub Programs the Team Lead of Home Base Program will plan, lead, execute, and manage the day to day operations in accordance with regulatory requirements, 360°kids’ policies, mission, and vision of the organization. Team Lead will oversee a team of workers to deliver sound and innovative programming and care for at-risk youth. Convey and demonstrate leadership style that supports a culture of inclusion and community capacity building.
**Direct accountabilities include**:
- Responsible for the day-to-day organization and operation of the Home Base Drop-In Programs.
- Work in consultation with Manager of Youth Hub Programs to select and facilitate activities aimed at achieving the desired outcomes of the program as outlined in the operations plan.
- Works with the Manager of Youth Hub Programs to ensure that the Home Base programs are in line with the stated mission and vision of the organization.
- Provides direction to Home Base in terms of operations & programs, in accordance with the approved Strategic Plan of 360°kids.
- Ensures that appropriate policies, procedures, and methods are being utilized.
- Communicates the mission, values of 360°kids to employees, and other stakeholders.
- Along with the Manager of Youth Hub Programs, provides leadership for the Home Base programs in team building and motivation of employees, manages for high performance and oversees plans for the training, development, and retention of Home Base staff to ensure ongoing competent, experienced, and effective management of the programs.
- Ensures that the Home Base programs and activities comply with applicable standards and laws.
- In the event of a crisis or critical incident, exercises judgement and initiative in managing contact with management.
- Represents 360°kids and/or Home Base to the social service network, regulators, and to the general public.
- Promotes the public relations activities of the Programs and is aware of the public relations activities of the organization.
- Liaison with participants, community partners, agencies, donors, coworkers, and volunteers. Develops positive relations with the communities being served by the program and with the general public. Liaise with parents on issues of concern or relevance to their children.
- Provides reports and related information as required to the Manager of Youth Hub Programs, other designated organizations, and appropriate regulatory agencies and ensures staff completes mandatory recording and reporting.
- Attends training workshops and relevant conferences that pertain to the role.
- Participates in the 360°kids’ on-call rotation to provide support for staff and program operations outside of core hours (evenings, weekends and holidays) in emergency situations.

**QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS REQUIRED**:
- Post-Secondary degree/diploma Child/youth related field (e.g. Child and Youth, Social Service Worker, Social Worker, Psychology, Sociology) or the equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth.
- Minimum of three years’ experience working with “at-risk” or street involved youth, plus at least one year supervisory or management experience.
- Experience using a case management system or HIFIS and VI-SPDAT an asset.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification an asset.
- Current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).
- Car and valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Leadership skills, including motivation, delegation, coaching/mentoring and empowerment and the ability to motivate staff.
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of working with youth, including understanding of the regulatory environment (e.g. CFSA).
- Demonstrated client focused counselling skills and role modelling.
- Must possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to be adaptable with a flexible approach taking into consideration the unique qualities of each client.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills that promote positive team building, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
- Will possess a broad knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for clients and professional referrals.
- Relationship building and management skills, to support relationships with peers, staff, partners and ministry officials and other stakeholders.
