Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
- extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
- demonstrated ability in successfully teaching metalwork and welding
- industry experience with respect to metal fabrication/welding preferred
- a commitment to ensuring WCB and WorkSafeBC safety standards in the shop environment
- a commitment to maintaining a strong ‘TRAIN IN TRADES’ program in partnership with the University of the Fraser Valley
- demonstrated knowledge of Skilled Trades BC (Formerly ITA) requirements for running a Train in Trades Program
- a commitment to preparing students for Skills Canada competitions
- demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy for graduation level schools with respect to teaching practices and evaluation/assessment and reporting procedures
- demonstrated ability to motivate and provide success for students experiencing difficulties with learning
- demonstrated excellent classroom management behaviour management and classroom organization skills
- demonstrated ability to recognize and acknowledge individual student differences and adjust instructional
- demonstrated use of highly successful instructional strategies in the classroom
- demonstrated high energy and interpersonal skills
- demonstrated knowledge and understanding of adolescent development
- demonstrated ability to set and clarify learning standards and to establish effective classroom procedures and relationships
- proven competence with integrating technology into the classroom
- demonstrated capabilities in working effectively and collaboratively as a member of staff/district teams
- commitment to and proven ability in involving parents as partners in the classroom
- practices accordingly
- experience managing the Ministry of Education & Skilled Trades BC curriculum regarding Train In Trades
