Zia Medical & Women's Health Clinics are currently recruiting Family Physicians to join our established and dynamic clinics in Edmonton and Stony Plain. We are currently in search of a Diabetes Educator, RD.

The Diabetes Educator, RD is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the nutrition care for patients with type 1, and type 2 diabetes and obesity in our community clinic; on initial consultation and whenever there is a significant change in status to support optimum diabetes care. The dietitian acts as a liaison to the patient and physician for program-specific initiatives and support.

**Required Qualifications**:
A Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition accredited by the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA) is required. Active registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta is required. Successful completion of an internship program or practicum training program that is accredited by the Dietitians of Canada is required.

Hold current CDECB (Canadian Diabetes Education Certification Board) certification as a CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) or actively working toward this certification is required.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Minimum three years of recent experience in clinical dietetics or community nutrition with a focus on diabetes and group teaching experience. Must be able to assess patients’ changing educational and nutritional needs as disease progresses. Ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary health care team. Proficient in group teaching and individual counseling.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Proficiency and knowledge of insulin pumps. Innovativeness in teaching methods and development of teaching aids. Demonstrates initiative in program revision and development. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Actively updates knowledge related to conditions treated including diabetes and obesity.

Minimum of 1-year experience in an outpatient setting working with patients with diabetes and/or diabetes in pregnancy within the last 3 years. Evident knowledge of diabetes medications including antihyperglycemic agents; GLP-1 receptor agonists; DPP-4 inhibitors; alpha glucosidase inhibitors; SGLT 2 inhibitors and insulins. Evident ability to counsel patients with diabetes on key safety topics including hypoglycemic/hyperglycemic emergencies, to provide diabetes medication/insulin titration advice, and incorporate in-depth knowledge of self-management.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Advanced experience with insulin pump therapy and continuous glucose monitoring technologies is preferred. Additional courses and/or certificates in the field of diabetes, change management, motivational interviewing, health change approach, and client-centered counseling are preferred.

**Salary**: $25.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 - 30 per week
