The University of Guelph’s Research Innovation Office (RIO) is seeking an organized, diligent, and initiative-taking individual to be a member of RIO team.

Reporting to the Associate Director, RIO, the Technology Transfer and Agreements Assistant will:

- Be the primary administrator of the RIO’s docketing system and databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documents and records;
- Act as a primary interface for communication between the RIO and external patent agents;
- Prepare and administer standard confidentiality and material transfer legal agreements;
- Review and maintain agreements with third parties, including recording activities and deadlines and following up to ensure the agreements are kept in good standing;
- Co-ordinate and prepare documents for meetings, including preparation of minutes;
- Prepare reports and statistics related to office metrics and activities;
- Act as back up for the Administrative Assistant during vacation and absences;
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Requirements of the position include: Two -year community college plus two years’ related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Training and knowledge of legal agreements and document maintenance is required, with experience in a law office preferred. Knowledge of general patent rules and guidelines is an asset. Advanced word processing, spreadsheet, internet and database skills (Inteum preferred); the ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team; excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills, both oral and written; excellent organizational skills.
