Job Posting - Culinary Manager

ElevATE Society is a registered charity that trains and employs people with barriers to employment. At present, all of our staff are refugees from the Ukraine. We run a Cultivate Catering and the Cultivate Food Truck. All profits from our operations are reinvested in our Charity’s purpose and to other local charities.

We are looking to hire a permanent culinary manager/chef with a minimum of five years of industry experience. Our organization is very fortunate to have the support of Chef Ken Iaci, who has extensive experience as a head chef and restaurant owner throughout North America. Chef Ken will provide mentorship and support for the successful applicant and set them up for success

Previous experience in catering, banquets, or food truck operations is considered an asset. This position has multiple phases with the first being the running and managing of the Cultivate truck. We are looking for a self-starter with a vision for growth.

**Ongoing Responsibilities**:

- Recruit and hire staff
- Building and pricing menus and ensure food meets quality standards
- Estimate food requirements and food/labor costs
- Supervise, train and monitor the progress of the culinary team
- Identify and request for provisioning, equipment purchases and repairs
- Comply with municipal and regional health, safety, and sanitation regulations
- Be fully vaccinated and comply with provincial covid-19 guidelines
- Obtain and comply with municipal licensing requirements
- Obtain and comply with fire safety regulations
- Keep time and payroll records
- Maintain a positive and professional approach to coworkers, customers
- Help grow customer engagement through direct customer interaction and via social media platforms
- Work closely with Chef Ken Iaci who will provide a mentorship/support role
- Meet weekly with the Steering Committee
- Reports directly to the Board of Directors

**Requirements**:

- Proven work experience as a culinary professional
- Excellent record of kitchen management and workflow logistics
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
- Capable of delegating multiple tasks
- Available to work flexible schedules based on the work
- Communication and leadership skills
- Embrace sustainability and nutrition as the foundations of ElevATE
- Keep up with cooking trends and best practices
- Working knowledge of various computer software programs including MS Office/POS
- Excellent customer service and people skills
- Effective in communication, conflict management and leadership skills
- Credentials in FoodSafe Level 1 and 2
- Credentials in WHMIS
- Credentials in Standard First Aid/CPR/AED
- Have a valid class 5 license and provide a clean driver abstract
- Have access to a vehicle and the ability to drive a food truck
- Experience in the non profit sector or working with marginalized people from various cultural backgrounds and/or those with barriers to employment
- Criminal record check
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Manage day-to-day operations at the commissary kitchen and in the food truck

Including lunch services at rotating hospitals during weekday and catering for evenings/weekends
- Develop, test, and execute a limited menu appropriate for a food truck and Catering
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of up to five cooks
- Establish and foster relationships with local producers and suppliers
- Establish and foster relationships with operations team with clients
- Manage ongoing maintenance of the truck

**Location**:
This position is based out of the Pacific Cloud Kitchen located in East Vancouver with a food truck rotating through the Lower Mainland.Most catering to be delivered in the Lower Mainland.

**Role Details**:

**Compensation**: Salary commensurate with experience starting between $50,000.00 to $65,000.00 + prorated three weeks annual vacation + health and wellness plan.

**Hours**: Permanent full-time. Operations may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Available to work flexible schedules based on the work.
