Catholic Social Services is currently recruiting for a full time (40hours/week), contract Child and Youth Settlement Counsellor located in our Edmonton region. **Program Description**:
The Child and Youth Program, based at the Rotary Centre for New Canadians, helps refugee children and youth under the age of 24 settle and integrate into their new homes. The focus is on their transition to the school system, English language education, workplace training, and/or employment.

**Purpose of Position**:
The Child and Youth Settlement Counsellor focuses on the specific needs of the children and youth, proactively identifying barriers they may face in their transition and putting supports into place to ensure their successful settlement.

**Job Duties**:

- Schedule and conduct orientations with children and youth, one-to-one and/or in groups (maintain contact with primary Settlement Counsellor to ensure no scheduling conflicts);
- Book In-Home Support Workers for interpretation support as needed;
- Accompany clients to Stanley Milner Library and conduct orientation;
- Provide clients with an overview of computer functions emphasizing educational software;
- Conduct one in-person follow-up with every client one month after they leave the Reception House;
- Maintain the flow of documentation, including:

- Input and maintain information in ShareVision;
- Distribute client surveys;
- Complete and submit monthly and quarterly client reports to Team Leader;
- Complete and submit annual client reports to the Team Leader;
- Attend Program, Service and Agency meetings;
- Other duties as assigned by the Team Leader.

**Education and Qualifications**:

- Degree/diploma in Human Services or equivalent;
- Skill in a second language preferred;
- Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, and Intervention Record Check current within six (6) months
