**Truth & Reconciliation Coordinator**
**Truth & Reconciliation and Community Engagement**

D U T I E S
The Truth & Reconciliation (TRC) Coordinator will report to the Director, Truth & Reconciliation
and Community Engagement. They will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and working
collaboratively with multi-departmental teams on implementing innovative TRC engagement and
training initiatives to attract, promote, engage, raise awareness, inform, and support Indigenous
and non-Indigenous students, staff, and faculty at RRC Polytechnic and external partners on their
TRC journey.
The Truth & Reconciliation Coordinator will meet objectives for RRC Polytech Strategy, In Front of
What’s Ahead, emphasizing commitment # 2 aligning objectives for the Indigenous Strategy,
Research and Business Development (ISRBD) Success Framework, The Manitoba Collaborative
Indigenous Education Blueprint for Universities Colleges and Public-School Boards Priorities and
CICan Indigenous Education Protocol priority plans. The incumbent will provide advice on TRC
Calls to Action where appropriate for content delivery. Committee work will be results-oriented
focusing to meet project goals and deadlines for the above plans
- R E Q U I R E D Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S- A University Degree in a relevant field of study, i.e., Indigenous Studies, Community
Development, or Social Sciences. An equivalent combination of education, training and lived
experience working with Indigenous culture may be considered
- Extensive experience in the history of Truth & Reconciliation, and the impacts on Indigenous
People in Canada
- Experience in developing constructive working relationships with people from different cultural
backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion,
socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and/or other aspects of
human diversity
- Extensive knowledge of academic and workplace barriers and challenges (inclusive of cultural)
for Indigenous students and staff
- Knowledge of program design, development and implementation of various TRC programs to
advance awareness, learning and experiences for College students and faculty
- Experience in facilitating workshops and training related to Indigenous culture
- Demonstrated understanding of managing expenditures and providing expense reports
- Established professional network and work relationship with external stakeholders for Truth &
- Reconciliation initiatives- Demonstrated knowledge in managing projects and initiatives
- Excellent writing skills; including research and reports
- Strong skills in project management
- Several years of experience in intercultural and Indigenous program design, development,
implementation and facilitation for students and staff in a post-secondary setting. Experience in
establishing and coordinating TRC projects and initiatives in partnership with stakeholders
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning
and continuous improvement
- A S S E T S- Self-identifies as an Indigenous/Aboriginal person with lived experience
- C O N D I T I O N S O F E M P L O Y M E N T- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
