Lead Server

**Job Purpose Summary**:
The Lead Server will be responsible for providing high-levels of customer service to all dining residents and guests by providing prompt and courteous customer service and maintaining a strong working knowledge of all daily menu items and specials. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the proper setting of tables, removing used dishes and place settings, assisting with cleaning duties, training new staff, and complying with all dining and kitchen policies and procedures.
**Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:
- Responsible for the total meal service and the dining experience of residents.
- Always greet residents with a smile and if possible, call them by name.
- Demonstrate respect to the residents and cater to their needs and requests in a timely manner.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
- Preparing the dining room and service kitchen area daily for opening service.
- Suggesting the correct daily menu items with a clear tone of voice.
- Serving food and beverages.
- Inquiring about resident and guest satisfaction with meals.
- Check tables, chairs and place settings for cleanliness.
- Check all tables are set properly.
- Clear all dirty dishes.
- Clean equipment, as assigned, thoroughly and in a timely fashion.
- Keep floor, in both the dining room and service area, clean and free of debris.
- Ensuring condiments, napkins and placemats are well stocked and replace supplies accordingly.
- Knowledge of special diets and preparation procedures.
- Works closely with the Executive Chef on standards, policies and service standards.
- Performing other duties, as assigned by your supervisor and senior staff, may assist in directing Level I and II Servers.
- Follow OHS Regulations/ Report related concerns/ Assist with Hazard Assessments.
- Participating in active team work with the whole dining room/kitchen team and welcoming new team members.
- Provide residents with a comfortable, relaxed dining experience (ensuring they don’t feel rushed).
- Engage in friendly, polite conversation with residents.
- Remind residents that comment cards are available for feedback on the food or their experience.
- Take orders for Resident Tray delivery from Home Support Workers and give it to the kitchen staff.
- Coordinates the set-up of the dining room for breakfast/dinner service.
- Take dinner and/or private room booking for the clients - set up and cleanup of the areas used.
- Dividing the cleaning tasks and assigning those tasks amongst the Dining Room staff.
- Observing the Level I and II Servers to be sure tasks are performed according to instructions.
- Ensuring the work is completed and meets standards set by management.
- Informing the Dining Room Supervisor of any concerns regarding the clients, equipment, maintenance, safety issues or any other of which may affect the safety and integrity of the facility or the client’s/staff’s wellbeing.
- Assist the Dining Room Supervisor with training new staff.
- Planning the serving sections for dining services.
- Responsible for opening and closing the Dining Room. This could include locking up the dining room.
**Required Knowledge/Skills**:
- Three (3) years of experience in food services required.
- One (1) year of leading/ training capacity required.
- Strong customer service experience required.
- Strong coaching and mentorship skills required.
- Clear criminal record check completed a maximum of three (3) months prior to the ‘date of hire’ required.
- Proof of fully-immunized COVID19 Vaccination (as per AHS requirements) required.
- Strong written and verbal English skills to effectively communicate with all residents, visitors and at all levels within the organization required.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
- Ability to work in an infectious disease outbreak environment and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.
- Professional manners.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
**Work Conditions**:
- Busy dining room setting.
- Lifting or moving up to 30lbs regularly.
- Must be able to stand and walk continuously for long periods of time (for duration of shift).
- Pushes, pulls, lifts, dining equipment and supplies.
- Manual dexterity required.
- Overtime as required.
- Potential exposures to infectious diseases, including an outbreak environment.
- Must be physically present in the workplace for work (remote work unavailable).
