The Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver (EFry) is a charitable organization that supports women, girls, and children at risk, involved in or affected by the justice system. Our programs work to break the cycle of poverty, addiction, mental illness, homelessness, and crime.

**We are recruiting for a Temporary Full Time Modular Transitional Housing Supervisor Maternity leave coverage position for Mazarine Lodge. **Located in Queensborough, New Westminster, Mazarine Lodge is a 44-unit transitional housing program for high needs women. Support workers provide awake management of the site and ensure the wellbeing of residents. A planned meal service offers two meals (breakfast and dinner) daily. Women live independently and have access to staff for support and case planning.

**Job Summary**: Ensures that day-to-day operations of the modular transitional housing are managed in a professional and efficient manner with attention to confidentiality and in compliance with contractual objectives and the organization’s policies and philosophy. The Modular Transitional Housing Supervisor also provides ongoing supervision and evaluation of all staff personnel and program policies.

**Reports to**: Director, Social Justice and Equity

**Key Duties/Responsibilities**:
1. Develops, implements and evaluates modular housing goals, objectives, policies and procedures and ensures that the required standards are maintained. Identifies both physical and programming needs of the residents and addresses such needs to the Department Director as appropriate. Plans with staff for changes.

2. Recruits, selects and orients program staff and volunteers. Provides direction to staff on operational issues, policies, procedures, techniques or other matters that may arise. Coordinates the scheduling of program staff. Supervises and evaluates program employees. Participates in grievance resolution and mediation amongst staff. May participate directly in the provision of services to resolve difficult or sensitive issues/problems.

3. Responsible for the evaluation of staff performance. Identifies staff needs re: performance management as well as personal and professional development. Provides feedback regarding contract issues, and may participate in internal and external committees representing the Society or Management.

4. Participates in case conferences and provides leadership and guidance to staff re. client case planning and management. Provides mediation to support conflict resolution between staff, clients, and the community.

5. Participates in supporting residents in meeting their goals and objectives. May work as a frontline deliverer receiving referrals, contacting clients, interviewing and assisting clients within the boundaries of program services, providing individual and group counselling and making referrals to additional resources where appropriate.

6. Is responsible for ensuring the maintenance, cleanliness, safety and repair of the modular housing. Also ensures maintenance of the food and other inventory.

7. Ensures that the modular housing functions within the annual operating budget and assists senior management in the preparation of the budget.

8. Acts as a liaison with the community and promotes community involvement in the program as may be appropriate. Establishes a rapport with the community and community agencies. Provides liaison with government officials, professionals, and Society staff. Maintains open communication with residents.

9. Maintains and provides necessary reports and statistics on residents and ensures all required documentation is accurate and completed on time. Attends regular Society meetings.

10. Performs other related duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS Education & Training**:
A degree in social work, counselling or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 8 years is required for the position.

Three years’ previous direct program delivery experience in the community social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of a like and similar community based program and related provincial and community support is required. Administrative and supervisory experience with contract negotiations an asset.

Knowledge of women’s issues, problematic substance use, homelessness, violence and trauma, poverty issues and relevant community resources.

Knowledge of legislation policies and procedures pertaining to Income Assistance, BC Employment and Assistance Act and Residential Tenancy Act and exclusions.
