**Position Summary**

We are searching for a reliable, innovative assistant manager to supervise operations at our bustling restaurant. Reporting to the Manager of Degrees the assistant manager is responsible for day to day operations such as: scheduling shifts, balancing cash registers, and approving time record keeping for staff, training new staff, ordering of inventory and managing the overall success of the restaurant. In addition, the Incumbent would also address customers' complaints and queries in a swift, courteous manner. To be successful as an assistant restaurant manager, you should implement measures to minimize costs and improve profitability, as well as, keeping the premises safe and clean for workers and customers. This position operates on a full-time permanent basis Monday - Friday.

**Skills and Qualifications**
- Opening and closing the restaurant in a timely manner,
- Hiring, training, mentoring supervising and assisting Front of House (FOH) staff members, conduct regular pre-shift meetings,
- Scheduling FOH staff, ensuring we reach or exceed labour targets,
- Reviewing and processing payroll activities in an accurate, timely manner
- Ensuring that the restaurant follows health and safety regulations,
- Sourcing and ordering for best associated costs on all ingredients, smallwares and other equipment that warrant replacing or replenishing, including development of feature beverages
- Ensuring balancing of cash floats, reconciling daily reports and bank deposits,
- Conduct maintenance and updating on our POS systems including our loyalty program
- Check and maintain regular inventory balances,
- Content creation for social media and in-house ads, coordinate with marketing department on all seasonal features and other marketing requests
- Monitor and manage guest complaints, ensure satisfaction and administer efficient follow up for to receive feedback
- Perform regular inspection of food and beverage preparation, and presentation to maintain consistency and compliance with Degrees Standards of Service
- Coordinate with Degrees Manager for everyday operation and maintain financial and administrative records, ensuring we are meeting our sales and labour targets to increase productivity and ensure guest satifisfaction
- Maintain proper sanitation, hygiene standards in kitchen and maintain a clean and tidy restaurant presentation,
- Assist with UMSU business orders, Aramark orders and other catering orders, as requested.

**Requirements**:

- One year’s diploma in hotel management or equivalent experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work events outside of regular scheduled hours of work
- Barista experience an asset
- Experience with Revel POS an asset
