This M.Sc. RAP Bursary will start in either Winter 2024 or Spring 2025 and end in March 2027.
Scholarship of $24,000/year divided into 3 equal installments each year. It is expected that the student will work approximately 10 to 15 hours per week for a two-year period (six semesters).

Students enrolled or eligible to enroll in a M.Sc. program at Laurentian University with specialization in biomedicine, molecular biology, or other relevant specialization. Proof will be required before the start date.

**Intent of the process**:
The intention is to staff one (1) student position for the completion of a Master of Science (MSc) degree at Laurentian University, Sudbury, Ontario supervised by Dr Aleksandra Mloszewski (NRCan-GSC) and Dr. Gustavo Ybazeta (Laurentian University, Sudbury, Ontario).

Essential Education:
- Enrolled at Laurentian University (Sudbury, Ontario) in an MSc program with a specialization in molecular biology, genomics, or others relevant specializations.
- Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine, Molecular Biology, or other relevant specialization from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Degree equivalency
Essential Experience:
In the context of student recruitment in the federal public service, experience can be acquired through studies, work experience or volunteer activities.
- Experience in extracting DNA and RNA from complex environmental samples.
- Experience in technical laboratory work (e.g., molecular or biomedical laboratory), such as: sample management, data compilation, analysis and reporting.
- Experience with computer geographic information systems (GIS) programs such as ArcGIS.
- Experience with publishing scientific reports or papers.
Essential Knowledge:
- Knowledge of quantitative and/or digital polymerase chain amplification (PCR) techniques.
Asset Education:
- Relevant post-graduate diplomas or certifications.
Degree equivalency
Asset Experience:
- Work experience as a laboratory technician.
- Experience in Data Analytics.
