**JOB OVERVIEW**: Under the guidance of Management, the Bartender will prepare and serve members at Markland Woods and prepare beverages for Restaurant Servers.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Serves and responds in a highly professional manner to Guest’s needs within the Banquet Bar, including but not limited to serving food and beverage.

2. Has extensive knowledge of club’s cocktails, wines, beers and spirits as well as daily specials and featured items.

3.Greets guests and takes their orders (food and beverage), utilizing suggestive/up-selling techniques.

4.Prepares all drink orders for guests according to standard recipes.

5. Maintains knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass, major wines on the wine list, drink specials and wine specials.

6.Maintains complete knowledge of designated glassware, ingredients, preparation method and garnishes for each drink.

7.Cleans and resets bar-top immediately after guests depart. Cleans glassware in glass machine.

8. Performs duties and tasks assigned by management.

9. Follows proper inventory control and ordering procedures, maintaining established par stock levels.

10. Is familiar with all Food and Beverage items in the Restaurant and Bar in order to assist the Guest in their selection and to promote these items.

11. Is knowledgeable of the club’s facilities and special promotions in order to encourage members to use the club’s profit centers.

12. Enhances revenue flow through suggestive selling techniques

14. Provides service to individual members that are delivered efficiently and in a friendly and professional manner

15. Keps bar, lounge, and all work areas clean and in an orderly fashion.

16.Clearly communicate last call at designated closing time to members and servers.

17. Answers telephone within three (3) rings, using correct greeting and telephone etiquette.

18.Monitors Guest’s behaviour, maintaining safety guidelines as established through the Ontario Liquor License Act.

20. Follows all fire, health and safety regulations and laws governing Food and Beverage operations in Ontario.

S**TANDARD SPECIFICATIONS**:
Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.

Some requirements may exclude individuals who pose a direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of themselves, other employees or guests.

**Essential**:
1.Certification in an alcohol awareness program - Smart Serve Certificate

2.Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding**.**

3.Minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.

4.Ability to provide legible communication both in written and oral.

5.Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.

6.Previous training in liquor, wine and food service.

**Desirable**:
1.Certification in Cardio Palmary Respiration (C.P.R.).

2.High school graduate, some college.

3.Previous experience in cash handling and Point of Sales (POS) systems.

1.Ability to understand guests' service needs.

2.Ability to access and input information into P.O.S. Jonas system.

3.Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly when providing service to multiple guests within any given period of time.

4.Ability to exercise good judgements in determining potentially intoxicated members. And to follow the Ontario Liqueur License Act in serving guests.

5.Ability to perform job functions with mínimal supervision.

6.Ability to maintain good coordination while serving orders quickly.

7.Ability to maintain good coordination while preparing and serving orders quickly.

8.Ability to exert strong physical effort in transporting cases of liquor and beer kegs from storeroom to bar.

9.Ability to exert physical effort in transporting racks with dirty glasses and plates to dishwasher area.

10.Ability to endure abundant physical movements in servicing members throughout the work areas.

11.Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.

12.Ability to follow all serving guidelines under the Ontario Liquor License Act and Smart Serve.

13.Ability to remain stationary at assigned post when specified.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Casual
Part-time hours: 24 per week

**Salary**: $22.00 per hour
