**The Opportunity**

Reporting to the Academic Chair of Sustainability, the Instructor in environmental sciences supports the School’s Sustainability Pod. We are looking for an individual with a suite of environmental skills to teach a multidiscipline schedule, ranging from chemical sciences to environmental analysis and regulation. You have comprehensive expertise and a successful track record in the industry and/or post-secondary sector as follows:

- Strong digital ability [or digital literacy] and/or ability to learn new software quickly
- Environmental, policies, regulations, and planning
- Comprehensive chemistry fundamentals, including environmental chemistry and analytical laboratory skills
- Ecosystems and environmental impact assessment
- Data acquisition, analysis and management including emerging tools and technologies
- Geographic Information Systems including both proprietary (ArcGIS) and open source (QGIS) software
- **Please note this is a casual hourly position with multiple vacancies**

**The Role**:

- Instruct courses related to environmental technology, chemical laboratory technology, and water programs
- Assist with the operation of our chemical laboratory facilities
- Coordinate with both internal and external parties to strengthen our student experience
- Assist with the development of advanced training materials in environmental sustainability sciences aimed at learner engagement and learner retention
- Collaborate with the Sustainability pod at MacPhail and the school at large, the team from Applied Research and Innovation Services, and other SAIT schools and departments
- Collaborate with other instructors on integration of tools and curriculum for applied learning in environmental sustainability
- Assist the Academic Chair with programing and thought leadership activities

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Minimum of post-secondary education in a related field
- Graduate studies will be considered an asset
- 2-5 years experience in industry is required
- Experience with instruction and competency development will be considered an asset

**Skills & Knowledge**:

- Excellent communication skills including technical writing and presentation skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities and tight timelines
- Skilled at utilizing a consultative approach and building long-term relationships as a collaborator and influencer
- Comfortable coordinating change and meeting deliverables under pressure
- Keen eye for detail with a continuous desire to uphold quality and current standards
- Experience with open-source software and data acquisition tools will be considered an asset
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
