**Caseworker, Justice Programs**
**Proposed Start date
- June 2023 Contract Ending May 31, 2024**
**30 Hours / Week, 4% Vacation Pay + Benefits**
The Caseworker will be responsible for providing front-line service to EFRY Hope and Help for Women Justice Programs - Halton Drug Treatment Court and the Alcohol Drug Awareness and Anger Management Program.
The **Halton Drug Treatment Court (HDTC) Program **addresses involvement in the justice system and its relationship with substance use and addiction. This program recognizes that there is a strong correlation between problematic use of substances and crime related activity and believes that the key to success is having access to treatment planning, ongoing counselling, case management, individual and group meetings in a highly supportive environment. Ultimately, the goal of this program is to assist clients in making changes to their substance use that results in positive outcomes, and prevents the ongoing cycle or harm including additional criminal justice involvement.
The **Alcohol Drug Awareness Program (ADAP) and Anger Management Programs **are designed as motivational programs, consisting of two structured sessions twice a month per program. Both programs are gender specific and responsive, that lead participants through a process of self-evaluation, education, and introspections related to substance use or anger management. The Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program provides participants with the opportunity to examine their substance use and its impact on their lives. The Anger Management Program is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to examine their behaviours when they are angry and the impact their anger style has on their relationships and life, and encouraged to focus on the relationship between their anger and criminal consequences. The ADAP / Anger Management Program Facilitator accepts referrals for those recommended for the program(s) and facilitates programming based on the pre-set scheduled dates.
**Areas of Responsibility**:
- Builds positive, respectful and non-judgmental relationships with clients and their support systems
- Conducts intake interviews
- Responds to inquiries from program participants, external stakeholders, and/or community members
- Fosters professional relationships and maintains communication with all relevant members of the social work and/or justice community
- Facilitates referrals to appropriate support services and agencies according to the clients’ needs
- Provides crisis intervention support as needed
Provides trauma-informed, supportive counselling and case management services to clients
- Provides guidance regarding problem-solving while encouraging the development and enhancement of skills and techniques required for successful sobriety and community reintegration
- Advocates on behalf of clients
- Maintains and completes confidential client files according to professional work standards and Agency policies and procedures
- Records and evaluates each client’s development on an ongoing basis and maintains case notes for all contacts with clients and support systems; provides written documentation as it pertains to legal, case managerial, and client progress as requested and required
- Prepares monthly quantitative and qualitative date to the Manager of Community Justice Programs
- Models and promotes high levels of communication with all external stakeholders in order to develop and maintain partnerships
- Keeps abreast of trends, community resources and developments by participating in workshops, conferences, and continued professional development
- Facilitate internal agency virtual programming and the Ministry of Attorney General Direct Accountability program option groups

- A degree and/or diploma from a University or College in a related field with experience working with vulnerable populations
- A demonstrated awareness of relevant legislation including but not limited to the Canadian Criminal Code, Family Law and Ontario, and the Family Services Act
- The ability to maintain and encourage confident program facilitation skills in order to effectively interact with clients using a trauma informed approach
- Knowledge of the judiciary and court systems and their high-level procedures and protocols, as well as the roles of court personnel
- Knowledge of community resources and services
- Diagnostic and interpersonal skills to deal with a diverse client group in a diplomatic and non-judgmental manner
