We are seeking an individual who is aligned with our core values and reflects our core competencies to join our Finance team as **Financial Analyst**.** This is a full-time, permanent position.

**The Position**:
Reporting to the Manager, Accounting Operations, this position plays a key role in the Accounting functions for Havergal College and The Havergal College Foundation, supporting Accounts Payable, Donor Services, Accounts Receivable, Retail Store and General Accounting.

**Specific Accountabilities**:
**Month-to-Month**
- Ensure accounting transactions and data entry documents meet generally accepted accounting principles;
- Support the month-end closing process, including preparing and posting journals to the general ledger.
- Assist with preparation of Monthly Financial and Cash Flow Statements for internal reporting
- Reconciliation of Balance Sheet and Operating Statement Accounts and sub-ledgers;
- Maintains register of Fixed Assets and Capital Contributions
- Participates in review and analysis of monthly financial performance.
- Review monthly donation upload file for posting to general ledger;
- Review of donations and gift agreements for donor restrictions;
- Performs monthly grant matching exercise;
- Management of project codes;
**Annual**
- Assist with annual audits for College and Foundation and Pension;
- Assist with year end closing procedures
- Preparation of Annual Returns (T3010) for College and Foundation;
- Coordinate annual College Tax Receipting process for eligible Religious Education Donations and Childcare receipts.
- Coordinate Annual Student Enrollment Process;
- Supports annual student scholarship and bursary award process;
- Reviews donor listings for annual publications;
- Supports Annual financial planning process;
- Administer Boarder Health Insurance Coverage and Tuition Insurance Plan.

**Ad-Hoc**
- Assist with administration and development of financial policies and process improvements;
- Assists with financial reporting for Senior Leadership, Board and Board Committees.
- Work with Finance and Advancement leadership to establish and monitor tax receipting process and standardization of Donor communications;
- Supports Advancement team by running gift reports and tracking pledges;
- Facilitate gifts through The Havergal College Educational Foundation Inc.;
- Assist in Green & Gold (school retail store) as required;
- Assists other Finance functions as needed.
- Training of Accounting Analysts;
- Train members of faculty and staff on the Havergal purchase order system;
- Special projects as required;
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience**
- Accounting education or equivalent working experience;
- Working towards or completion of professional accounting designation (CPA);
- Minimum three-five years related experience of full cycle accounting;
- Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting;
- Practical knowledge of accounting practices and relevant government legislation, including CRA charitable tax receipt guidelines;
- Expert Excel skills and experience using databases, building queries etc.;
- Proven problem-solving, analytical skills and strong attention to detail are a necessity;
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities, meet tight deadlines and adapt in a busy changing office environment;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills;
- Excellent Customer Service focus;
- Ability to work successfully both in a team environment as well as independently with mínimal supervision;
- Maintain a high standard of discretion dealing with confidential information.
