Our Intern program is uniquely hands-on, allowing you to work alongside our leaders on exciting new projects and strategies. In addition to day-to-day learning, you will have access to a series of learning and networking events, mentorship sessions from our leaders, an end of term Capstone Project, and much more. Our goal is to leave all our program graduates with a full, 360 understanding of our business.
**THE ROLE**:
As a Property Management Intern, you will be part of our GTA West Operations Team and report to the Senior Property Manager. You will help support the day-to-day delivery of “best in class” operations for a portfolio of commercial and retail properties. This is an invaluable opportunity for an individual interested in property management as a career. You will gain an understanding of our industry by exposure to many facets of property management and operations, including financial management and accounting, tenant relationship management, capital projects, and maintenance.
**WHAT YOU WILL DO**:
- Provide critical administrative support to the property management team.
- Assist accounts receivables with the review of rent rolls, tenant accounts and initiates collective activities to ensure rents are being paid on a timely basis.
- Assist the Property Manager with the annual budget review, operation, and completion of monthly financial reporting.
- Prepare, record, update, and distribute documentation and correspondences on tenant inquires, property inquires, claims and incident reporting.
- Oversee the payment of utilities, track billing and assist with collection of data for tenant charge backs, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting.
- Prepare and administer contracts for provision of property services, such as cleaning and maintenance, landscaping services and alarm systems.
- Participate in other special projects and initiatives, and take on other duties, as assigned.
**WHAT YOU BRING**:
- You are currently enrolled in a post-secondary program, preferably in Real Estate, Commerce, Finance or Business.
- Demonstrated interest in developing a career within the commercial real estate industry.
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across all levels within and outside First Capital.
- You have outstanding organizational capabilities with the ability to prioritize.
- You are a self-starter with willingness to learn dynamic environment.
- Strong computer skills including excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
