Matheson Constructors is a leading construction firm focused on delivering exceptional construction management, general contracting, design-build and public-private partnerships. We are currently looking for an **Assistant Project Superintendent**, this role will assist the Project Superintendent in managing all aspects of field construction for assigned project(s) as part of the construction management team; including project safety, project budget, schedule and general performance.

**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to**:

- Assist in mobilizing of assigned project(s) - equipment choices, site layout and site set-up
- Work with Superintendent on workforce planning and manpower requirements, including layoff procedures of union staff.
- Assist with planning, implementing and monitoring of construction means/methods, schedules, productivity, job-costing, quantity reporting, innovations, site logistics
- Contribute to the development, management and implementation of the quality, control, safety and environment programs
- Facilitate field administration as required: preparing timesheets, verifying invoices, labour quantities, packing slips, purchase orders and updating daily job diaries
- Prepares correspondence, reports, forms and other documents and communicates with owners, consultants, trade contractors, et.al, as directed by the Superintendent.
- Work with the Project team in recording As-Built conditions, reviewing and implementing changes
- Support the Superintendent in organizing and coordinating all subcontractor activities (includes conducting and chairing weekly co-ordination meetings), assisting project manager with buyouts, monitoring subcontractor monthly progress invoices
- Assist in on-site co-ordination of manpower, materials and equipment
- Understanding contractual responsibilities, contract documents and resolving disputes
- Supervising, mentoring, coaching and training of field personnel
- Developing and maintaining positive client relations (owner, clients, consultants, public)
- Project close-out: participate in final inspections, deficiencies, warranty work and site demobilization as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business unit and corporate objectives

**Position Requirements**

**EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related engineering or construction management discipline
- Minimum of 3 years construction experience in an operational role
- Thorough understanding of the engineering principles associated with the work
- Thorough knowledge of contract drawings and specifications
- A valid Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required
