Environmental Health & Safety Professional | Independent Contractor
**Job Summary**:
As Occupational Health and Safety Professionals at CMI, we prioritize the implementation of best practices, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, and cultivating a culture of safety enhancement in targeted projects and or facilities.
**Responsibilities**:
- _Lead the management of the facility's health and safety programs, processes and policies._
- _Oversee the Safety Committee and conduct monthly meetings._
- _Commit to safety and health excellence._
- _Ensure regulatory compliance, accident investigation, documentation and OSHA VPP efforts._
- _Implement and enforce safety and health policies._
- _Manage the safety training program, ensure completion of all relevant training._
- _Oversee contractor safety performance, ensuring proper training and equipment use._
- _Ensure fire system inspections, testing, and functionality. _
- _Contribute to lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvements._
**Requirements and Experience**:
- _Minimum of 7+ years of direct safety oversight experience in a heavy industry environment_
- _Experience working in a waste-to-energy plant required_
- _Must be fluent in English and French _
- _Comprehensive understanding of General Industry standards (1910)_
- _Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities_
- _Proven ability to collaborate with teams across all organizational levels_
- _Excellent verbal and written communication skills_
**Education and Education and Credentials**:
- _Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field_
- _Lean Six Sigma credentials highly preferred_
- _OSHA 30 General Industry certification_
- _First Aid CPR AED certification_
**Physical Requirements**:
- _Prolonged periods of standing and walking._
- _Ability to climb a ladder._
- _Ability to stoop, crawl and bend _
- _Ability to lift up to 30lbs _
**Other Requirements**:
- _Background check and potential drug screening required for the position_
- _Overtime and flexible working hours may be necessary based on project demands_
- _Residence within a reasonable commuting distance _
