The Crown Agencies Secretariat (CAS) is a new central agency of the B.C. government. The primary role of the CAS is to work with certain Crowns - their boards and staff - as well as responsible ministries, to provide financial and policy oversight on all matters pertaining to the Crown sector, supporting government to deliver on its priorities. This new oversight function includes policy, legislative and regulatory development; financial forecasting and analysis; risk monitoring/mitigation; communications and stakeholder engagement; correspondence; issues management; and, where applicable, capital projects and major transformation initiatives. CAS also oversees corporate planning and reporting for ministries and Crowns and leads public sector board appointments and governance best practices and training, delivered through the Crown Agencies and Board Resourcing Office (CABRO).
The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) enables the public to request and obtain copies of records held by B.C. government ministries or the Office of the Premier, when those records are not routinely available. Supporting the Associate Deputy Minister’s Office and the operations of CAS more generally, this position acts as a central point of contact for all Freedom of Information (FOI) requests that are received by CAS and related to various Crowns across government, working to find practical and equitable solutions within the parameters of FOIPPA, conducting harms reviews where required and makes recommendations on the release of information and the protection of privacy for access to information and privacy.
**Job Requirements**:
- Degree in Information Management, Public Administration, or other related discipline and 1 year of *recent and related experience; **OR**:
- Diploma in Information Management, Public Administration or other related discipline and 2 years of *recent and related experience; **OR**:
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience interpreting freedom of information /privacy or similar legislation.
- Experience managing caseloads.
- Experience working in a collaborative, customer-service environment.
- Recent and related experience includes:
- Experience in negotiation, mediation, and/or conflict resolution.
