**The Women’s Emergency Accommodation Centre (WEAC) is an emergency shelter for up to 64 women and is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and 365 days of the year. WEAC serves as an entry point to emergency and crisis housing, meals, personal hygiene care, laundry and on-site access to medical and mental health supports. You will ensure a safe and secure environment is maintained to meet the basic needs of a diverse population of transient homeless women and persons facing sexual exploitation, violence, abuse and addiction issues.**
**Reporting to the Lead Social Worker, the Housing Worker plays an intricate role in establishing a culture within WEAC that emulates the principles of a housing first model. You will actively engage in conversations with the women of WEAC on the topic of housing and teach, guide and encourage other staff members to do the same. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will develop and deliver on case management and goal-oriented care plans with a focus on housing for the women of WEAC.**
**What you bring to the team**
- You bring 1+ years of experience conducting intakes, assessments and/or placement coordination.
- You have 2+ years of experience working with marginalized populations.
- You possess a degree or diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Community Support Worker, or a related field.
- You have a proven ability to practice relationship-based approaches.
- You have background and experience working with people requiring higher levels of support due to trauma, addictions, mental illness, and/or poverty.
- You have experience using evidence-based models of practice.
**Important work you will do at e4c**
- Drives the housing first model by creating a culture within WEAC that emulates the housing first principles.
- Carry out evidence-based practices for housing supports to women and liaison with landlords to ensure a successful transition to permanent housing.
- Collaborate with women and members of the multi-disciplinary team to create an individualized, person-centered, and goal-oriented care plan that includes a housing component to ensure a successful pathway to housing.
- Work with onsite clinical staff and other health care professionals to assist in stabilization and improve women’s physical and mental wellbeing.
- Create and compile housing resources to assist Community Support Workers in providing support to the women.
