**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Assistant Executive Director, the Manager, Maintenance & Emergency Planning and Preparedness is a key member of our leadership team. You are responsible for the operation of the Physical Plant, Maintenance, as well as Emergency Planning and Preparedness and Security Management. In addition, as the Manager, Maintenance & Emergency Planning and Preparedness, you are responsible to ensure that Villa Colombo Toronto is operated and maintained in a cost-effective, safe and efficient manner by leading and overseeing all maintenance activities, (sub) contractor management, emergency preparedness, work orders and facility-wide inspections.

**Work Experience**

You will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge gained through a progressive career path in property, maintenance and emergency management and advanced knowledge of Ontario Building and Fire Codes, the Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and its Regulations with a solid understanding of government agencies, city by-laws and long-term care related legislation. In addition, you demonstrate a strong commitment to “best practices” and are seen as an innovative leader.

With a solid understanding of financial, asset and capital management, funding and budget management you know how to “think-outside-the-box” to maximize resources and ensure Villa Colombo Toronto maintains the highest quality of service, care and accommodations. You are dynamic, dedicated, and a resilient leader and you enjoy working in partnership with others to achieve common goals. You also demonstrate a strong understanding for the need to invest in and build employees to ensure leading edge skills and utilize an “empowering” management style to inspire staff. **WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED**

Required:
A post-secondary degree or diploma. A degree/diploma in Property Management, or other related field is preferred.

One or more of the following professional designation: Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Certified Property Manager (CPM), Facility Management Administrator (FMA), Real Property Administrator (RPA).

A minimum three (3) years property management experience. Knowledge of evidence-based practices and, if there are none, prevailing practices relating maintenance.

Must have a minimum of two years experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity, preferably in a unionized health care/long-term care organization;
Excellent analytical and financial management skills with experience in developing business cases, preferably for a not-for-profit organization.

Advanced knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, the Ontario Fire and Building Code and other applicable legislation.

Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment with flexibility to handle last minute changes.

Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written), presentation and organizational skills.

Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.

Strong influencing skills, excellent problem solving, analytical and priority management skills.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a multi-task high pressure environment.

Availability to be on-call for major maintenance problems.
