**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
The City of Maple Ridge has an exciting opportunity for a Trades Supervisor - Facilities. We are seeking a experienced and motivated Trades Supervisor to lead our team of dedicated tradespeople in ensuring the safety, functionality and aesthetics of our community spaces.

This is skilled supervisory trades work in planning, assigning, checking, supervising and participating as required, in the work of a group of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled subordinates engaged in technical, servicing, repairing, maintenance, construction and a variety of electrical, mechanical and plumbing/gas work in Municipal facilities, properties and structures. Under general supervision, an incumbent of this class exercises considerable independence of judgement and action in accordance with well-defined departmental policies. Difficult technical problems, policy and financial matters are discussed with a superior who reviews work performance in terms of results achieved and technical accuracy.

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**:
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by technical courses related to the work and completion of a recognized trade apprenticeship, plus considerable related experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES**:

- Thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment applicable to the trades and related work supervised
- Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures related to the servicing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of electrical, mechanical and plumbing/gas work in Municipal facilities, properties and structures
- Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions related to the work performed. Ability to plan, assign, supervise, review and participate in the work of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled subordinates and with economy and efficiency in the use of time, equipment and materials
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, manuals, blueprints, diagrams, sketches and other materials related to the work
- Ability to prepare designs and drawings, cost estimates, reports, records and other materials related to the work and order equipment and materials
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts, to coordinate work with others, provide advice, and resolve issues related to the work
- Skill in the care and use of tools, machinery and equipment used in the work

**LICENSES & CERTIFICATES**:

- B.C. Certificate of Qualification - Red Seal
- Driver’s Licence valid in the Province of British Columbia
- Must be able to meet and maintain RCMP security clearance

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Five or more years of considerable related experience in a supervisory capacity
- Demonstrated leadership and commitment to safety and compliance with relevant regulations and codes

**HOURS OF WORK**:
As per the collective Schedule B Note N this position will work an eight (8) hour day/forty (40) hour week; Monday to Friday inclusive, with shift differential as per Article 14.10.
