**POSITION TITLE: Tkek Yeel Stem Camp Coordinator (2 Positions)**

**DEPARTMENT**:Language and Culture Department**

**SUPERVISOR: Language and Culture Department Manager**

**TERMS: Full-Time, Seasonal (Term until August 31st)**

**JOB REFERENCE: 2023-023**

**NATURE AND SCOPE OF WORK**:
As an employee in Language and Culture Department, the Tkek Yeel Stem Camp Coordinator is supervised by the Language and Culture Department Manager. These positions are responsible for ensuring that the Tkek Yeel Stem Camp participants are provided with a safe, nurturing and happy environment and for implementing the social, recreational, cultural and educational activities. The position is responsible for the overall development, implementation and coordination of Secwepemctsín educational programs and services at the Tkek Yeel Stem Camp, and this will involve teaching the language. The camp coordinator must have the passion and commitment to the revitalization of Secwepemctsín.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc (TteS) policies, standards, and procedures, and as directed by the Education Manager.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times.
- Participates in all staff meetings and training.
- Promotes and recruits summer camp participants.
- Implements quality services, programs and activities in accordance with childcare regulations.
- Monitor the camp participants’ social, recreational and educational activities.
- Regularly inspects the equipment, cabins, supplies and campsite and reports any concerns to his/her supervisors.
- Assists with the general administration of the camp, such as purchasing and distributing camp supplies.
- Monitors any concerns related to the camp participants, such as health or medical conditions, allergies, and issues and reports these to his/her supervisors.
- Other duties as required by the Language and Culture Department Manager.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION**
- Completion of Grade 12 with preference given to a post-secondary student.
- Certificate in Indigenous Language Proficiency (Secwepemctsín) is an asset.
- Food safe certificate.
- Lifeguard certification is an asset.
- First Aide and Transportation certificate.
- Reliable transportation with a valid class 5 Drivers’ license is an asset.

**EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum 1-year camp counsellor or related work experience.

**OTHER QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**
- Proven written and communication skills
- Proven ability to work well with children
- Proven ability to work independently or as a team player
- Proven leadership skills
- Proven ability as a role model
- Must adhere to TteS guidelines and policies of TteS and other childcare legislation.
- Must pass a childcare criminal record check

**HOURS OF WORK**:Monday - Friday -- Non-normal shifts will be required

**PAY GRADE**: Starting at $25.33 per hour depending on education & experience
