The Life Claims department supporting Canadian Operations plays a crucial role with our clients, beneficiaries and advisors as we offer them financial help when they need it most. We are looking for a motivated individual who is eager to hold a dual position as Life Waiver Specialist and Life Claims Adjudicator. This position offers the possibility to progress internally through our career ladder. The position is a full-time permanent role.

**Life Waiver Specialist**
- Set-up & adjudication of waiver claims that are in line with SLF LTD for restricted policies & staff policies
- Set-up & adjudicate of Stand Alone waiver claims that are in line with LTD carrier (non-SLF)
- Medically adjudicate Stand Alone waiver claim when a plan member does not have LTD coverage (non-SLF)
- Achieve the accuracy of reserves held for life waivers we require for underwriting purposes and client reporting
- Adjudicate Total and Permanent life waiver payout requests
- Follow up with plan sponsor to ensure that plan member continue to remain disabled with their LTD provider
- Follow up with plan members for continuous medical information to ensure they remain eligible for life waiver when there is no LTD benefit
- Provide coaching and assistance to SLF Disability Case Managers
- Provide coaching to internal SLF employees in India for life waiver set inquiries
- Update life waiver notes as necessary
- Participate and assist in meetings and projects with other business units as necessary
- Provide assistance internally to Account Executives, Service Specialist with life waiver inquiries such as contractual information and plan coding

**Life Claims Adjudicator**
- Determine how the contract applies to each claim
- Assess claims and documentation received for a claim in order to reach a decision
- Communicate clearly and proactively with clients, beneficiaries, advisors and various professionals and effectively manage their expectations
- Maintain established service standards
- Evaluate opportunities for process improvements and actively participate in team initiatives and projects

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to handle written and telephone inquiries of a sensitive nature
- Strong attention to detail
- Team player with a positive attitude and commitment to provide quality service
- Ability to balance high work volumes
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Bilingualism (French, English) required for Quebec only
- interactions with English-speaking customers or partners

**Assets**:

- Experienced in claims environment
- College diploma/university degree/CEGEP degree or relevant experience
