**Position Overview**:
As a Kid's Art Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching art lessons to one or more classes each week, following our professionally designed curriculum. This position will require regular work on weeknights and/or weekends.

**Responsibilities**:

- Become familiar with our program philosophy, goals and expected learning outcomes
- Following the curriculum, prepare lessons in advance of teaching their class
- Provide guidance and support to students as they explore their creativity
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Create a safe, positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages artistic expression
- Ensure the proper care, maintenance and cleaning of all tools and materials
- Provide guidance and mentorship to student volunteers
- Act in accordance to the best interest of the organization
- Adhere to the Visual Arts Brampton code of conduct
- Complete additional duties as assigned

**Experience**:

- Previous experience working with children ages six to 16, preferably in an educational setting
- Strong classroom management skills
- Ability to engage and motivate students in the learning process
- Experience in working with and teaching art techniques in a variety of media, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, etc.
- Familiarity with different art styles and artists
- Ability to adapt lessons to meet the needs of individual students

**Qualifications**:

- Must have a background in visual arts
- An visual arts related degree or diploma is preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English with the ability to adjust style to communicate to different audiences (i.e., children, parents, staff, etc.)
- Demonstrated creativity, flexibility and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
- Familiarity and proficiency with Zoom and telecommunication technology
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check

**Salary**: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
