Emergency preparedness is a critical aspect of CCH operations. It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.

**Summary of responsibilities**:

As an integral member of CCH Health Information Services, the Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst contributes to the departmental goal of providing timely access to complete and accurate health information. In this role you will use advanced analytical skills to provide insight into the performance and operation of the hospital, and to assist with strategic planning. You will work closely with the Decision Support Analysts (who perform more standardized reporting and analysis) to provide comprehensive, robust reports to members of the CCH team. You will design and build informative visualizations and dashboards to support informed decision making and meet the information needs across the organization. You will work to integrate disparate data sets, build warehouses to cross reference sources, utilize big data languages and business intelligence solutions available to maximize the utility of the existing data and to answer complex questions and hypothesis.
This is a full-time permanent position with comprehensive pension and benefits. A hybrid working environment is supported but regular recurring attendance at the hospital is a requirement.
General Accountabilities:

- Extract, transform, manipulate and analyze complex data sets from a variety of sources as needed to identify trends and patterns to support planning, decision-making and fundraising initiatives.
- Link various data sources to mine the data relationships between them.
- Collaborate with various departments including Decision Support Services, Health Information Management, Clinical Informatics and other hospital departments to better understand available data, data extraction and reporting needs.
- Analyze data to identify trends and relationships and offering suggestions and remedies that improve operational effectiveness.
- Conceptualize, design, develop, test, and deploy self-serve, multi-parameter reports and dashboards that deliver key performance metrics and forecasting.
- Mentor and develop Decision Support staff to improve overall reporting capabilities across the hospital

**Key skills or competencies**:

- Undergraduate degree from a recognized university in an analytical or technical field with specialization in the field of statistics, mathematics, computer science, information technology, business analytics or a healthcare-related discipline related to the role combined with 1-3 years of experience in an analytic role in a health care setting.
- Demonstrated experience with SQL programming and a solid understanding of databases and proficiency writing SQL procedures and queries. Experience with Oracle Health CCL Reporting is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience with analyzing data and determining/implementing data enrichment or aggregation techniques.
- Experience creating and maintaining data warehouse structures and performing ETL functions from multiple sources.
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Ability to work with members of a multi-disciplinary team including the ability to communicate with professional and Medical Staff.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Experience with Big Data tools and languages such as Spark, Python, Kafka.
- Ability to take complex data and present it in a clear and simple manner.
- Ability to identify and interpret trends and patterns in data to identify root causes/drivers.
- Results oriented work ethic to work independently and deliver quality, consistent and timely results.
- Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance.
- Functional proficiency in English (oral and written).
