**Job Summary**:
**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Leads a team of health professionals who work to ensure the requirements of the _Health Protection and Promotion Act,_ the Ontario Public Health Standards and any other associated Acts and regulations are met by providing quality programs and services.
- Interprets, applies and consistently implements Corporate policies.
- Provides day to day leadership and coaching to the Food Safety team, including reviewing staff workloads and managing performance.
- Manages the program budget to ensure appropriate use of resources.
- Participates in regular meetings with the Director of Health Protection to problem solve, review, implement and evaluate Corporate and Health Department policies and procedures.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of services and projects.
- Provides input to the Director of Health Protection regarding staffing levels, programs, projects, and critical issues.
- Partners with other members of the Divisional Management team to ensure Public Health programs and messaging are delivered to the community.
- Liaises with internal and external Public Health professionals including Managers, ministries, local municipalities and senior officials to ensure comprehensive, integrated and effective programs and services.
- Represents the division on community, departmental and corporate committees.
- Supports Director and Medical Officer of Health in responding to relevant media inquiries.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Skills & Qualifications**:
**Essential**
- An undergraduate degree in public health or related program along with a current certification as a Public Health Inspector (Canada).
- A minimum of two (2) years’ progressive supervisory experience and 5 years’ experience in Public Health.

Collaborates well with peers across the department, other Regional departments and with health care system partners to ensure public health measures occur in a wide variety of settings.
- Strong knowledge of public health competencies, effective public health practice to determine interventions that improve the health of Halton residents, the Ontario Public Health Standards, legislation and mandates governing public health issues.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead, coach and influence. Collaborate with diverse community partners and organizations, provide excellent customer service and possess political acuity.
- Develops collaborative relationships for the delivery of programs and services to meet term of council priorities and legislative agenda.
- Microsoft Office and internet skills.

**Preferred**:

- A master’s degree.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification and Continuous Quality Improvement training (e.g., LEAN certification).
- Experience with various Ministry of Health databases.

- Travel will be required; incumbent must provide their own transportation.
- Flexibility in work schedule is needed for stand by on a rotational basis.
