**Purpose**:
The Dietitian will function a member of an interdisceplianary team to address the complex medical and nutritional needs of the patients in the programs supported. Majority of the work will be comprised of supporting patients in the Pediatric ACU diabetes program and will also provide support to patients amongst other programs and departments. The individual will be required to complete nutritional supplement prescriptions and attend department and program meetings. The dietitian will also be required to identify current and potential nutrition related problems and develop and/or revise clinical nutrition policies and procedures.

**Education and Training**:

- Minimum of a four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree in a Nutrition field, from an accredited university.
- Successful completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship program.
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

**Experience**:

- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working within a health care environment.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in pediatric nutrition care.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working with pediatric diabetes.

**Knowledge/ Skills/Ability**:

- Demonstrated knowledge of pediatric and neonatal nutrition including malnutrition and failure to thrive, parenteral nutrition, enteral nutrition, allergy, feeding aversions and selective eating, dysphagia, iron deficiency anemia and other nutrient deficiencies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of insulin pumps and glucose monitoring systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency in calculating daily nutrition requirements (macro
- and micro-nutrients including energy, protein, vitamins, minerals, fluids, etc.) and assessing adequacy of food intake for pediatric and neonatal patients.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret anthropometric, biochemical, physiological and socio-economic data in relation to nutrition status and to formulate a nutrition care plan with the support of the patient and family.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, as well as being able to work independently and prioritize workload is essential.
- Ability to collaborate with organizational and community partners to provide coordinated care.
- Demonstrated expertise in program planning, evaluation and improvement.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software, i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to counsel patients and/or family/caregiver(s) on an individual basis.

**Personal Suitability**:

- Demonstrated positive work record and good attendance record.
- Successful Vulnerable Sector Check is required is required.
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
