**KEY FUNCTION**:
To provide clinical expertise in the assessments and diagnostics of clients within the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) programs.

**REPORTING**:
Under the general direction of the Clinical Manager, Violence Intervention and Prevention Program, VOICES for Women and Pediatric Ambulatory Care Unit.

**DUTIES**:

- Perform clinical screening evaluations and diagnostic assessments within the scope for Autism and FASD.
- Provide appropriate referral and treatment recommendations for Autism and FASD.
- Review the literature, scientific studies, and stay current with any changes or developments in the fields of Austism and FASD.
- Participate in round table with children and their families to better understand the diagnosis of FASD.
- Prepare summary reports based on completed assessment and create patient care plan for patients diagnosed with Autism and FASD.
- Participate in Northern Ontario Mobile FASD Clinics to better serve children closer to home.
- Educate community stakeholders on impacts of Autism and FASD on children and their families.
- Participate in process improvement work related to Autism and FASD.
- Work collaboratively with all team members to determine, implement, and evaluate treatment plans.
- Maintain up-to-date charting/records in compliance with HSN policies and procedures.
- Determine and align improvement projects with HSN’s Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
- Participate in education and training specific to current, relevant federal and provincial health and safety legislation, standards and guidelines.
- Educate and promote health, safety and wellness in the work place.
- Represent the department or program on various committees and in meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**EDUCATION AND TRAINING**:

- Minimum of a Master’s degree in Psychology from an accredited university.
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
- Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) certification from an accredited program is required.
- Completed Canadian Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (CanFASD) training is preferred.
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate is required.

**EXPERIENCE**:

- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing ADOS testing.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in the diagnostic assessment of FASD.
- Experience working with pediatric Autism and FASD patients is preferred.
- Experience using screening tests for Autism (e.g MCHAT R/F., SCQ and Rita-T) is required.
- Experience using screening tests for FASD (e.g WISC, WRAML,CPT3, D-KEFS, CMS,NEPSY II, ABAS, BASC, WAIT) is required.

**KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES**:

- Demonstated ability to perform form assessments for Autism using ADOS standardized testing.
- Demonstated ability to perform assessments for FASD using CanFASD standardized testing.
- Demonstrated knowledge in screening for affect regulation problems.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to navigate schedulling system that uses OCEANS.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in general health care and community resources.
- Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of lean methodology for process improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
- Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems.
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to organize and prioritize as required.
- Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.
- Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
