This position is a part of the Non-Academic Staff Association (NASA).

This is a part-time, casual position (22.5 - 30 hours per week) with an end date of March 31, 2024 with a possibility for extension. The position is anticipated to work remotely with opportunities for flexible scheduling, as reasonably negotiated.

**Position**

Reporting to the University of Alberta Library Research Data Management Strategies Director, this position provides essential support to research data management (RDM) initiatives and services delivered by the University of Alberta Library, notably including two key areas of focus:
1) Activities relating to the implementation of the University of Alberta RDM Strategy, including supporting advisory and/or working groups, stakeholder engagement and outreach, knowledge gathering and dissemination, and supporting the development of a central on-line RDM Hub for supporting the discovery and use of RDM information and resources and access to institutional expertise.

2) Supporting the ongoing growth, service model, and delivery of the University of Alberta institutional research data repository, Borealis-Dataverse.

**Duties**:

- Provide administrative and logístical support both to the advisory and working groups that are focused upon the implementation of the University of Alberta institutional research data management (RDM) strategy
- Assist with the development and delivery of awareness building and outreach activities across campuses with respect to RDM
- As needed, update and support analysis and dissemination of an existing web-based environmental scan of University of Alberta RDM supports and services.
- Assist with the development and delivery of an institution-wide RDM focused survey, notably to better understand research RDM needs across research disciplines
- Provide support with respect to the development of a central on-line RDM Hub for use by stakeholders across the institution and research lifecycle
- Support the development and implementation of a robust team-based service delivery model for UofA’s institutional research data repository, Borealis-Dataverse
- Regularly attending monthly Borealis-Dataverse meetings, representing UAL
- Support the daily delivery of Borealis-Dataverse as a service, including but not limited to assisting researchers with setting up new accounts, data deposits, reviewing deposits submitted for publication, curation activities, and a range of metrics and information gathering to help inform service delivery activities.
- Other related duties as required.

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary education minimum; Preference will be given to those with a graduate degree; Training in the science, health science, public health, social sciences, or related fields is preferred
- General knowledge and experience regarding research data management (RDM) principles, including FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data
- Sound understanding and experience with RDM best practices across the research lifecycle, including the long-term deposit and preservation of data
- Demonstrable project management experience
- Proficiency and comfort working within the University’s Google apps environment
- Familiarity with the tenets of Indigenous data sovereignty, including the First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC) Principles of OCAP (Ownership, Control, Access and Possession of data) as well the CARE (Collective benefit, Authority to Control, Responsibility and Ethics) principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
