**About the role**

We’re looking for an Underwriting Support Clerk to join our growing team

**What you'll do here**:

- Manage the incoming requests from our brokers and distribute work to the underwriting team according to different levels of seniority and assigned roles.
- Allocate work and correspondence to the underwriting team daily.
- Assemble and prepare output for mailing with the same day turnaround time.
- May order various underwriting reports from the computer system.
- Assist the management team with any required tasks.
- Identify problems and relevant issues, seek to resolve problems and improve work processes and share back with the team/management.
- Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly and courteously.
- Work closely to develop and maintain positive business partnerships with brokers and co-workers.
- Other duties as assigned.

**What you bring to the table**:

- High school diploma required, post secondary preferred.
- No previous experience required
- Highly organized to manage workflow efficiently
- Ability to self motivate and work independently without continuous supervision
- Excellent time management skills
- Initiative and ability to work under pressure
- Keyboarding skills and knowledge of computers required
- Experience with Windows-based software programs
- Must be able to develop some proficiency in the use and knowledge of all computer systems related to their function
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team player
- Experience with underwriting systems or software not required but an asset
- Understanding of underwriting principles and practices not required but considered an asset
