**The Opportunity**:
The City of Selkirk is currently in search of a Green Team member to join our team. Under the direction of the Manager of Climate Action & Environmental Services, the incumbent will be responsible for performing Green Team initiatives.

**Job Duties**:

- Carry out daily watering activities for trees, naturalized areas, annual flowers, gardens, turfgrass, and other green spaces throughout the city.
- Perform daily monitoring of trees and plants during watering activities.
- Perform weeding, deadheading, plant removals, plant placements, and pruning as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications/Minimum Requirements**:
Minimum Requirements shall include:

- Grade 12 education or General Education Development (G.E.D)
- Valid WHMIS Certification
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License
- Demonstrated competency in operating passenger vehicles, trucks, and towing trailers.
- Horticulture, forestry, gardening, landscaping, or greenhouse experience preferred.
- Considerable skill in operating power equipment and hand tools, including, but not limited to, weed trimmers, push and riding mowers, rotor tillers, chainsaws, pole saws, etc.
- Chainsaw Safety Certification preferred.
- Good communication skills.
- Demonstrated competency in safe work practices, knowledge and understanding of occupational hazards, safety precautions, regulations, and procedures applicable to the area of work.
- The ability to work outdoors in various temperatures and weather conditions.
- Must be physically able to perform all labour duties or other duties associated with the position.

**Comments**:
This is for a casual position ranging from May to September 2024, working 40 hours a week based on a flexible schedule. This position is excluded from the Collective Agreement and is open to all applicants.
