**Course Description**:
**Course Learning Objectives**:
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

- Select when and how to use different methods of sampling and recruitment
- Critically assess the relative benefits and weaknesses of each data collection and generation method
- Consider when and how to implement an explicit community-based and social justice approach to research
- Develop data collection and generation implementation processes and anticipate/solve problems
- Identify ethical issues related to each data method
- Critically assess threats to validity and credibility and anticipate how these can be addressed
- As part of a group, design and implement a data collection or generation method
- Prepare a project management plan.

**Salary**: Sessional Lecturer I: $ 9,457.90 (Half Course)

Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term: $9,930.79 (Half Course)

Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77 (Half Course)

Sessional Lecturer II - Long Term: $10,326.62 (Half Course)

Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76 (Half Course)

Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term: $10,570.02 (Half Course)
- (Salary Inclusive of 4% or 6% vacation pay, where applicable)_

**Please note that should the rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from the rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.**

**Qualifications**: PhD in relevant area of study, experience with and detailed knowledge of varied data collection methods used in the social sciences (i.e., surveys, focus group discussions, diaries, photovoice, observation); research ethics; data management methods; and research project management.

**Description of duties**: As well as normal teaching duties, the instructor will review and revise the course syllabus, plan lectures and other learning activities; plan and evaluate student assignments; mentor students and support learning, and communicate with the MPH program director as necessary.
