Position purpose:
Reporting to the dean, manages all facets of research at the Faculty of Law, including human resources, budgets, pre-award management, marketing and promotion, graduate research students and liaison with the Graduate Office. Develops and implements medium
- to long-term strategies for academic and non-academic funding opportunities, partnership development, research communications and outreach, to increase research intensity and maintain world-class research at the Faculty of Law. Strengthens the Faculty’s ability to receive and manage external research funds entrusted to it and of its professors to fund and carry out research programs, to enhance the Faculty’s image as a research-intensive unit and offer an rewarding learning environment for graduate students.

This position reports to the Faculty of Common Law and Civil Law.

In this role, you will:

- Provide strategic advice to the Deans and Vice Deans Research in matters pertaining to research with regards to strategic planning, areas of development, policy and research funding programs, communications and outreach activities in order to increase the research intensity within the Faculty of Law.
- Lead discussion with faculty members on strategic priorities for research in order to align research projects and programs with the priorities of a broad range of international, national, provincial and other sources of funds for research and innovation.
- Support research chairs and research centers at the Faculty of Law in fulfilling their mandate with regards to research and outreach activities. Identify opportunities and lead initiatives that help the Faculty of Law achieve its strategic research goals.

What you will bring:

- Graduate thesis-based degree, preferably in law or social sciences, from a recognized university; proof of research publications (an asset)
- Five years’ relevant experience in financial, human and physical resources administration; project management certification (an asset)
- Experience in communications strategies and research event co-ordination
- Experience working in industry or Tri-council agencies (an asset)
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage human resources
- Strong knowledge of purpose of research centres in an academic setting
- Demonstrated ability to help professors and graduate students secure funding from academic funding agencies and other external funders
- Demonstrated ability to create, maintain and build relationships and partnerships within the university and externally
- Bilingualism — French and English
