**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
Reporting to the Dean, Teaching, Learning and Program Quality, the Director, Academic Quality, is responsible for providing leadership and guidance in ensuring Durham College (DC) delivers high quality programs grounded in innovative and evidenced-based practices and focused on student success and preparedness for the evolving world of world.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Collaborate with colleagues in the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), Academic Faculties, Institutional Research (IR) and pan-institutional stakeholders to develop new programs across the credential framework, oversee curriculum design for multiple delivery modalities, and guide submissions through internal and external review and approval processes.
- Liaise with industry and community bodies as well as the ministry to support program approvals and renewals and quality assurance processes.
- Represent DC on external committees and working groups, as required.
- Oversee the annual (APR) and cyclical comprehensive program review (CPR) processes, as well as planned and ad-hoc program change and renewal requests for all credential levels and delivery modalities.
- In collaboration with IR, develop the CPR roster for each academic year, consulting with academic leadership to ensure alignment with program needs and accreditation schedules.
- Liaise with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU) to coordinate and support program standard reviews and consultation on the development of new program standards, and coordinate and communicate attestation requirements, working with Academic Faculties to ensure programs are renewed to meet the new standards.
- manages cyclical institutional quality audit processes, including the College Quality Assurance Audit Process (CQAAP).

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Master's degree in education or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution (credentials in project and/or event management would be considered an asset)
- Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in higher education
- Minimum of three years of managing processes related to quality assurance and supporting achievement of program, department and/or institutional mandates
- Exceptional communication skills
- Strong research, strategic problem solving and analytical skills
- Considerable experience in planning and management of collaborative and consultative projects with multiple deliverables and established timelines, and working with and guiding project teams comprising varied professionals
- Proven ability to build and foster relationships through discretion, diplomacy, compassion and skilled conflict resolution
- Extensive knowledge of college academic credential requirements as per the Ontario Qualifications Framework, including degree and non-degree credentials
- Familiarity with the Ministry of College’s and University (MCU) requirements, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development Skilled Trades (MLTSD)/Skilled Trades Ontario requirements, and the Postsecondary Education Quality Assurance Board (PEQAB) requirements
- Experience guiding and working with Faculty administration and program faculty teams in critical analyses to achieve a strategic outcome
- Knowledge of current principles and best practices in program and curriculum design and development for adult learners
- Ability to develop and nurture a vision, goals and strategy for advancement, integration and streamlining of quality assurance processes, including new program development, and program and curriculum review and renewal
