As part of our ongoing mission to support children with diverse needs, we are seeking a passionate and dedicated Inclusion Support Educator to join our team.
As an Inclusion Support Educator at Arts In Motion Performing Arts Centre, you will play a pivotal role in the development and well-being of all children including those with high needs. Your primary responsibilities will be to provide specialized support and assistance to children who may exhibit challenging behaviors or require additional attention in a childcare setting. Additionally, you will serve as a float staff member, stepping into classrooms to cover when educators are absent. This dual role is integral in supporting the team, alongside changing schedule needs while ensuring that all children, regardless of their unique needs, have the opportunity to thrive and grow in our center.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Work closely in the classroom with ALL children supporting those who have high needs with their individualized development plans.
- Support behavior intervention plans to address challenging behaviors, promoting positive social interactions and emotional regulation.
- Collaborate with AIMPAC’s teaching team and supervisors to adapt classroom activities and routines in meeting the specific needs of the children.
- Offer guidance and support to parents, communicating progress and strategies for fostering positive behaviors at home.
- Provide classroom support as an in ratio staff member when needed due to employee absence. Such activities include rest, outdoor play, toileting assistance, classroom clean up and other classroom related duties.
- Continuously monitor and assess the effectiveness of strategies, adjusting as necessary.
- Collaborate with Arts In Motions Support Supervisor and outside community partners, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and special education professionals, to provide holistic support for children with high needs.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Education, Social Work Diploma, Child Development, Special Education, Early Childhood Education Diploma or a related field/experience (preferred).
- A minimum of 3 years Previous experience working with children with high needs or behavioral challenges in a childcare or educational setting.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques, positive behavior support, and child development.
- Strong communication skills to effectively work with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of children with diverse needs.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and implement strategies in real-time.
- A team player with a big heart (we all sweep the floor here;) Willing to step in to help as needed for the support of the larger team and community.
