Aquatics Assistant Instructor

Responsible for assisting with swim lesson planning, instruction, evaluation, and the communication results to swim lesson patrons as required (with guidance from Instructor/Guards and Aquatics staff); escorting program participants to and from change room in an orderly manner; cleaning and tidying change rooms and pool deck area; maintaining a tidy deck area; responding to routine enquiries; provide assistance in accident prevention and public education; responding to situations and emergencies in a supportive capacity; and for assisting with program delivery/supervision as required/directed.

Aquatics Deck Attendant

Responsible for monitoring pool amusement equipment (i.e. water slide) and providing general guidance and communication to swim patrons as required (with guidance from Instructor/Guards and Deck Supervisors); escorting program participants to and from change room in an orderly manner; cleaning and tidying change rooms and pool deck area; maintaining a tidy deck area; responding to routine enquiries; provide assistance in accident prevention and public education; responding to situations and emergencies in a supportive capacity as required/directed.

Job Requirements

Aquatics Assistant Instructor

1. Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C award from Red Cross, Lifesaving Society, St. John’s Ambulance, Canadian Ski Patrol is required

2. Current Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross award is required; Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard award would be an asset

3. Current Lifesaving Society Assistant Swim Instructor or Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor award is required

4. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the general public, certifying organizations, emergency service agencies, program participants, and staff.

5. Experience volunteering in an aquatic environment an asset.

6. Must be 14 years of age or older.

7. Training in WHMIS, SOS preferred.

8. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills.

9. Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (Declaration of Minor) satisfactory to the Town is required.

10. Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
