Utility Maintenance Worker

Responsibilities will include assisting in maintaining the water and sewer infrastructure, facilities and will primarily be responsible to ensure that all maintenance activities are fulfilled in a timely manner as effectively, efficiently, and safely as possible. This position will ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency. The role will also adhere to company policies and standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete on-time delivery. This is a Union position.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Assists senior staff in the operation and maintenance of the Department's facilities, including but not limited to; Water Plant(s), Booster Stations, Reservoirs, Wells, Bulk Water Stations, Sewer Lifts and Sewage Lagoons.
- Complete all operations and maintenance of the Department's equipment, including but not limited to; trucks, jetters, boilers, lab/tests, safety equipment, other portable and non-portable units, small tools, and power equipment as well as some heavy-duty equipment.
- Assists senior staff in the operation and maintenance of the Department's functions, including but not limited to; water supply, treatment, distribution, metering, repairs, and appurtenances; sewage collection, treatment, repairs and appurtenances.
- Must achieve the following certifications:
- WHMIS
- Assist with jobsite administration duties, such as timesheet completion, and any daily logs that need to be maintained.
- Maintain work area in a clean and professional manner at all times, ensuring proper tools and equipment are available when needed.
- Follow all OH&S regulations, company safety policies, standard operating procedures, and water and sewer regulations.
- Adhere to establish safe working procedures and wear the proper safety equipment at all times.
- Perform additional tasks and duties as required by the Utilities Manager or designate.
**Qualifications/Requirements**:
- Some post-secondary schooling
- Practical experience in operations and maintenance of a Utility Department as it pertains to facilities, equipment and functions.
- Maintain a valid Saskatchewan Driver’s License Class 5 or better.
- Ability to:
- Adapt and take constructive criticism
- Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of staff, elective officials, and the general public.
- Understand and execute written and verbal instructions.
- Work with mínimal supervision
- Read maps, field drawings, and plans
- Keep records and so simple mathematical calculations.
- Exercising good judgment in making decisions in light of established precedence and resourcefulness in solving new problems.
- Self-motivation, reliability, and efficiency in completing assigned tasks.
- Capable of working, cooperating, and communicating with others.
- Good physical condition, able to do strenuous physical labour.
- Dedication to safety measures and best practices.
- Work in Sewage and Confined Space related tasks
**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 3 months
Pay: $16.97 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
