As Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance of our nominal 275-megawatt power plant that is operated as a base-load power generating facility. You will report to the Maintenance Manager.
This role is on-site at Northland’s North Battleford Energy Centre, located approximately 15km southeast from the city of North Battleford, Saskatchewan. This role requires relocation to the Battlefords area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical preventative maintenance tasks, inspections and troubleshooting as assigned.
- Perform or assist with overhaul maintenance and system improvement tasks as assigned.
- Recommend plant betterment items to improve overall plant efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Assist with quality and safety audits during site planned and unplanned outages of the facility.
- Work together with Operations and help coordinate the safe release of plant equipment for maintenance activities.
- Provide instructions and necessary training for others to work on and maintain plant equipment.
- Operate heavy equipment such as facility overhead cranes, aerial lift and forklift as necessary.
- Develop an awareness of major vendor documentation systems
- Perform or assist others in performing maintenance activities on site as required
- Assist the site team with upgrades required to optimize plant efficiency in your areas of expertise.
- Assist or seek assistance from other groups within NBEC and NPI sister facilities by developing a network of communications and support.
- Closely interface with all personnel to encourage innovations and savings wherever possible.
- Assist with the development and implementation of environmental and health and safety policies and participate on teams managing these important areas.
- Install, examine, test, repair or replace all types of mechanical equipment including but not limited to pumps, valves, compressors, turbines, tanks and facility structures.
- Be hands-on and work well in a team or individually as may be required.
- Assist with the setting/maintaining of major maintenance and O&M budgets and long-term models.
- Utilize the site assets management software -Maximo to manage the lifecycle of the facility assets, including equipment, buildings, and vehicles. and provide reporting as required.
- Maintain and track major maintenance parts history through Maximo software including inspection and rejection of poor-quality parts
- Assist with the creation of work scopes and bid packages and/or oversee portions of various plant outages. Interact with various contractors to ensure scopes are applied and completed according to predetermined schedules.
- Standardize, monitor and facilitate the continuous improvement of the predictive and preventative maintenance program.
- Assist with Maintaining the spare parts inventory.
- Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.
- Complete other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience
- Completed Millwright Certificate.
- Minimum 5+years industry experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Welding Ticket, preferred.
