We are looking for a Camp Warden who is responsible for all elements of site maintenance, user groups’ needs, booking administration and related finances, and coordinating contractors and other 3rd party supports. Reporting to Assciate Director, Property Operations. The Camp Warden is responsible for supervising year-round and seasonal property students as well as working with volunteers and ensuring safety and well-rounded program delivery. Align property plan to Scouts Canada’s strategic plan and priorities.
**Specifically, you will be responsible for**:
**Maintain Standards for Site Maintenance**
- Working with property staff and volunteers, the Warden is responsible for regular inspections and maintenance of facilities and ensuring facilities meet Scouts Canada and legal safety standards
- Comply with, and ensure that camp users comply with Scouts Canada risk management procedures and Government regulations
- Work with property staff and volunteers to manage elements set out in the Woodland Trail’s Business Plan, and update as necessary
- Monitor on-site activities to ensure that safety standards are applied by users, committee members, and staff
- Ensure the buildings are clean and maintained
- Ensure snow and Ice are addressed
- Ensure grounds are maintained
- Ensure the safe operation of the Swimming pool
- Conduct drinking water and sewage tests as required by Scouts Canada and the Ministry of Environment regulations
- Work cooperatively with local Police, Health, Fire, Environmental and Safety officials
**Maintain Scouts Canada’s Assets**
- Be wise in the use of our resources
- Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget
- Provide input on a budget (operating and Adventureland Summer Camp)
- Ensure the proper functioning of camp security systems
- Ensure that all program material is safe and functions properly
- Ensure the proper disposal of all waste material
- Maintain water system and related septic systems. Responsible for winterizing camp water systems
- Control maintenance materials and supplies and re-order when needed
- Report any damage or concerns to the Properties National Team, and execute an action plan to remediate the situation
- Maintain compliance records for quarterly and year-end submissions Scouts Canada COPS 038, 039 and 040, MOE Annual Report on DWS
**Promote Facilities Usage**
- Ensure positive experience by campers, including check-in and check-out system, and providing facility tours when requested
- Support positive relationships with facility neighbours and the local community
- Assist with the marketing of the Camp facilities
- Work with staff and volunteers to ensure Scouts Canada mission-aligned programming and infrastructure are developed and delivered
**Camp Administration**
- Provide administrative support for camp bookings, provide excellent customer service to Scouters and other users’ inquiries
- Complete timely uploading of availability calendars to DoubleKnot as required
- Oversee schedules and tasks for staff, students and volunteers
- Conduct monthly review of financial status relating to deposits, balance owing, and overdue accounts; work with the finance team to rectify overdue accounts
- Review and report on camp performance metrics on a monthly basis and review with the Operations Manager and Property Committee Chair
**Competencies Required**:
- Solid, demonstrated relationship-building skills, a friendly manner and the ability to deal with all levels of staff, volunteers and external visitors
- Reliable, punctual and dependable with a proven ability to work independently as well as to perform effectively in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Solid organizational skills and ability to coordinate, plan and schedule multiple projects at the same time
- Exceptional organizational skills and time management to prioritize activities and allocate resources effectively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to adapt to changing conditions and issues; proactively develop appropriate means and methods to resolve conditions and issues
- Experience developing and/or delivering youth-centered programming
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both online and in person.
**Education, Experience & Skills**:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum 3 years of related experience
- Program development and delivery experience
- General knowledge of building and equipment maintenance and repair, and light construction
