**Main Purpose & Function**
The UMW I will be responsible for cleaning and vacuuming public swimming pool(s), testing and regulating the pools water for proper chemical balance and back washing filters to ensure that the water purity and cleanliness meet required standards. The incumbent must also ensure regulatory Health Standards are maintained and properly documented.

The UMW I will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility and completing a wide range of janitorial duties including: observing stationery equipment and related controls, changing air filter and belts, logging gauge and temperature readings, reporting on equipment malfunctions, assisting in repair and overhaul of equipment, maintenance procedures, cleaning public areas, washrooms and change rooms, washing & waxing floors, replenishing supplies, collecting and transferring refuse and recycling, preventive maintenance, repairing locks, performing simple repairs, plumbing, and security checks of the premises.

**Qualifications**

Education and Experience:

- Completion of a recognized certification in Building Services Work and some related experience.
- Pool Operators Level I and II (BCRPA or RFABC)
- Valid Occupational First Aid is desired
- A Valid Class Five (5) Driver’s License is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Working knowledge of pool water filtration equipment and disinfection systems.
- Working knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment used in janitorial and building maintenance work.
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public groups and users of the facility to ensure observance of the rules and regulations.
- Ability to observe equipment in operation and report on any malfunctions as well as undertaking preventative maintenance.
- Work well alone or with limited direct supervision.
- Good health and strength sufficient to perform a variety of manual tasks in janitorial and building maintenance work.
- Above average manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to write and maintain records supplemented by basic knowledge of MS Office is preferred.
