**Tourism Ambassador**
**Community Services and Strategic Partnerships**
Reporting to the Senior Tourism and Special Events Officer, the Tourism Ambassador will assist with inbound inquiries from visitors/residents regarding tourism and special events by sharing feedback about the offerings of the local area, the region and of Ontario. Ambassadors will act as hosts at one of two Visitor Centres within the City of Quinte West and manage information booths at special events when required.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
The position will:
- Offer friendly and courteous front-line service by providing accurate and relevant information to visitors/residents making inquiries.
- Ensure a complete understanding and knowledge of the tourism offerings within the City of Quinte West, the Bay of Quinte Region and The Great Waterway.
- Familiarization of tourism offerings across the Province and, especially, within major tourism centres. i.e. Ottawa, Toronto & Niagara Falls.
- Ability to engage visitors to solicit, obtain and then log valuable visitation data for statistical purposes and marketing development. As well as the ability to engage visitors in a dialogue that will encourage them to take advantage of Quinte West offerings and extend their stay before sending them on to their desired destination.
- Perform day-to-day operations of the Visitor Centre including administrative duties, opening and closing functions, light cleaning & stocking materials.
**Education/Specialized Training/Skills**:
The position will require:
- Minimum Grade 12 Diploma.
- Registered in a full-time Post-Secondary School Program and returning in the Fall.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills combined with a genuine desire to assist visitors.
- General knowledge of computer programs.
- Obtain and maintain a police check.
**Nice to have**:
- A minimum of a valid Class “G2” Driver’s Licence and a safe driving record in good standing, satisfactory to the employer.
- Experience in Hospitality, Tourism, Event Management, Customer Service Sector or a related field.
- Up to date First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Ability to verbally communicate in French or another language.
**Work Experience**:
- No previous experience is required.
**Remuneration**: 2024 Student and Part-Time Wages Level 1 - $17.70/hr to $18.45/hr
Applicants will be required to consent to the completion of a criminal reference check and the completion of a driver’s abstract, if deemed a requirement of the position.
**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 3-4 months
Pay: From $17.70 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Weekends as needed
