**Hours of Work**:8:00 AM - 5:00 PM - Monday to Friday

**Wage Range**:$29.40 to $30.59 (Journeyman Certificate) **OR **$27.50 to $29.17 (Non Journeyman Certificate)

Do you have a passion for great food and enjoy working with seniors? If so, Diamond Spring Lodge has an opening for a full-time Head Chef. Diamond Spring Lodge is located in the vibrant community of Redwater, a short 45 minute drive northeast from Edmonton.

**Job Role**

Reporting to the Community Manager, the Head Chef is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, including planning and preparation of meal services in accordance with the Canada Food Guide, Supportive Living Licensing Act, Public Health Act, Accommodation Standards, Homeland Housing policies, procedures, and budget guidelines.

**Job Duties**
- Responsible for all tasks related to the production and service of menu items using standardized recipes, ensuring standard department policies, procedures and safe food handling techniques are always used.
- Establishes meal production requirements according to the needs of the site, orders and receives supplies from approved vendors and suppliers. Resolves discrepancies with vendors and suppliers as required.
- Coordinate and supervise a small but mighty food services team ensuring meal and service delivery quality. Promotes and supports operational routine and effective communication within the team and other departments.
- Ensures food services operations cleanliness and sanitation as required by Alberta Health Services, Public Health, and Homeland Housing policies and procedures.
- Participates in the development of a seasonal four-week rotational menus based on the likes, dislikes, requests, cultural and nutritional needs of residents and tenants.
- Manages and optimizes the food services budget using a variety of management resources such as a cyclical coordinated menu, standardized recipes, inventory control practices, standing offers, and approved vendors and suppliers.
- Supervise and ensure training of all food service staff, including the evening and night shift.
- With the support of the Community Manager, participate in recruitment, training, orientation, onboarding, and evaluation of your team.
- Respond to emergency situations and individual resident needs or concerns as required.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**

**Education, Training, and Experience**
- Journeyman Cook certificate **_preferred_**.
- Three (3) years cooking experience, preferably in a hospitality or seniors supportive living setting **_required_**:

- Related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience **_required_**.
- Basic computer skills - Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook **_required._**:

- Food Safety Certification - Alberta Health Services or NAIT **_required._**:

- Standard First Aid and CPR or requirement to obtain same within three months of hire **_required_**.
