**The Opportunity**
Mosaic is seeking a **GIS Technician** to work out of our Nanaimo office on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

**The Role**
Reporting to the Manager, FIS Services, the GIS Technician will provide will support strategic tactical and operational timberlands activities while maintaining a high standard in forest management with regards to safety, environment, quality, productivity, and costs. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Improving and maintaining forest database records;
- Analyzing and manipulating GIS data;
- Performing systematic editing, queries, and mapping requests in an ever-evolving technology field; and
- Working in alignment with and supporting other business focus group with spatial and data requests.

**Required Skills and Experience**
- Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in GIS;
- 2 - 5 years’ experience using GIS and other data systems;
- Experience in computer science, GIS, forestry or environmental science;
- Valid BC Drivers Licence;
- Knowledge and/ or experience in Structure Query Language (SQL), ability to create automated tasks using model builder or Python and an understanding of relational database management systems;
- Knowledge of FIS software such as Trimble Land Resource Manager and Trimble Resources;
- An understanding of LiDAR and photogrammetry data sets;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment;
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organize and action multiple and varying work assignments and successfully deliver results;
- Superior interpersonal, oral and written communications skills; and
- Strong attention to detail.
