Concrete Formsetter

The Concrete Form Setters main purpose is to build and set wood and/or metal forms for the construction of concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters and other concrete structures, as well as to promote and participate in the Goal Zero initiative.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Positively participate in the Company safety program and adhere to all safety requirements
- Load, unload and move wood and metal forms
- Build and lay out forms according to specifications with the ability to make calculations depending on grades
- Operate pneumatic hammers
- Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labour
- Other duties as required

**Knowledge/Skills**
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Ability to take direction, learn and develop new skills as required for the role
- Must be reliable
- Must exhibit a strong work ethic
- Ability to read construction plans is an asset
- Ability to utilize various hand tools including levels and measuring tape
- Ability to calculate grades
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with the materials, tools and machinery used
- Must be able to work in a physically demanding role requiring repetitive tasks such as balancing, heavy lifting, standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, crawling, reaching and manual dexterity over extended periods of time
- Must have good vision, stamina, hand-eye coordination and an ability to estimate size and dimensions
- Must have strong regard for ethics

**Experience/Education**
- Knowledge of City of Edmonton specifications is an asset.
- 1 to 2 years of working with concrete materials is preferred.
- Carpentry skills are an asset
- Valid driver’s license (Alberta Class 5, or equivalent) with own transportation may be required.

**Working Conditions**
- Travel between local job sites as required
- Overtime, evenings and weekends as required
- Work outdoors in dusty and noisy construction environments, sometimes in adverse weather conditions
- Must be alert and able to work safely around moving road construction equipment
- Potential to operate company vehicles or equipment
- Ability to meet and adhere to all safety requirements and applicable safety policies, including pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical testing
