The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the National Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are Canada’s Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill **one full-time General Manager** position within our **Red River Métis Tree Nursery** located in the **RM of St. Andrews, MB.** The General Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of all aspects of the Red River Métis Tree Nursery. The General Manager plans, executes, and manages nursery operations in accordance with the mission and objectives set by its Board of Directors and, as an affiliate company, in alignment with the MMF.

**Job Duties/Competencies**:

- Develop and recommend to the Board of Directors the overall mission, strategic direction, goals and operating principles of the company;
- Deliver, on the basis given by the Board of Directors, overall leadership and management of the company;
- Direct the company’s day-to-day operations and supervise staff across the company;
- Work with MMF departments and affiliates in the delivery of programs and services for Red River Métis citizens;
- Communicate the mission, values, and operating principles to employees, partners, and customers;
- Provide reports and related information as required to the Board of Directors, other designated organizations, and the regulatory agencies;
- Represent the company to the forestry industries and to the general public;
- Develop methods to attract, increase, and retain customers;
- Develop, monitor, and oversee budgets to ensure the nursery operates at a positive net income;
- Assume accountability for sound financial management and appropriate controls and audits.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or a combination of suitable education and experience will be considered;
- Several years’ experience in a Management role within a for-profit organization, within a tree nursery or relevant position would be considered an asset;
- Experience managing in a dynamic technical environment;
- Experience in marketing/advertising;
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience interacting with partners, industry members, and customers;
- Excellent analytical and financial skills with experience developing and monitoring budgets;
- Familiarity with the practical and financial aspects of managing a tree nursery would be considered an asset;
- Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
