**Position Overview**:
**The Director, Marketing & Communications is **responsible for leading and directing the execution of activities in key marketing areas, including: international marketing, education marketing, community management and social media, content marketing, partner & corporate communications, event marketing and China specific marketing. This role works with other members of the Marketing team and other cross-functional teams on commercial marketing, retail marketing, product launches and annual campaigns. At present, this position has five direct reports - Senior Social Media Specialist, Senior Marketing Specialist, China, Senior Content & Communications Specialist, and two Marketing Coordinators. Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing & Communication, the Director, Marketing & Communications is an integral member of the department and is a strategic thinker, a highly organized project and people leader capable of handling multiple deadlines, projects and leads the direction of the Marcom team. This person has a strong handle on Merrithew’s expansive business channels and drives new and ongoing projects forward, to advise, lead and motivate the team of direct reports. The Director, Marketing & Communications has day-to-day interaction with key internal partners and external partners - working closely within the team and across the company to ensure we deliver on message, on brand and on strategy.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Provide leadership to direct reports on projects and day-to-day tasks that support the department’s marketing strategy
- Lead and manage a calendar of marketing and communications actions to support company objectives
- Measure and track on performance of all Marcom initiatives against KPIs and ROIs
- Ensure approved international marketing plans are executed in alignment with goals and strategy to support the company’s international growth targets
- Develop and lead specific campaigns and programs for Merrithew’s LOBs: Education, Commercial, Retail and Studio/Corporate Training Center
- Oversee community management and the company’s presence on social media across key platforms, including, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest
- Oversee the development and execution of the company’s integrated content plans and strategy across the blog, newsletters, press releases, marketing collateral, website and articles/editorial
- Develop marketing strategies that connect with and support the growth of Merrithew’s key market segments including, rehab, hospitality, active aging and fitness clubs
- Lead the creation of integrated advertising, media and PR plans to support the team with the creation of ads, promotional and editorial copy, media outreach and materials such as product features, media partner banners, eblasts, etc.
- Proactively engage with all departments across the company to support their marketing initiatives
- Oversee Marcom plan execution to support special projects and launches including Merrithew Music and Merrithew Connect
- With the VP, Marketing & Communications, own messaging, branding, tone/voice, copy and content and provide direction and input on various marketing projects to ensure compliance
- Direct the Marcom activities that support the success of product launch campaigns
- Oversee the marketing requirements for the company’s attendance at events and tradeshows, symposiums and help market our partner’s events
- Review and provide recommendations and input on digital ad and website copy and content
- Ensure spend is within approval budget for advertising, giveaways/product samples, social media boosting, influencer marketing and partnerships and track and submit invoices for approval
- Other projects as assigned

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- University or College Degree in Marketing, Communications and/or a related field
- Minimum of 7-10 years marketing experience in a related position
- Ability to understand and integrate a global brand strategy
- Strong strategic thinker
- Strong leadership and management skills with demonstrated success working under pressure and adhering to deadlines
- Experience in a client focused business with impeccable, leadership, communication, relationship building and problem solving skills
- An energetic, creative go-getter attitude with strong work ethic and professionalism
- Industry curiosity and a willingness to listen to, explore, and present new ideas
